Welcome to "Develop Your Own Website Series"!

s an alternative to my freelance service of developing your organization's website for you, I am providing a free series on how to do this yourself. I walk you through each step involved in the process of building a professional website from the selection of a domain name to adding the content. This is the least costly method of developing a website utilizing my service. I provide the pros and cons of doing it yourself below.

Pros of Doing it Yourself

Costs less
Working through my series and developing your website on your own, makes it easier for you to maintain your website ongoing. You will be familiar with many of the features and tools of the content management system that is the backbone of your website. For example, I show you how to add a news story to your site that will be invaluable for communicating the latest events happening within your business.
You will develop a valuable skill set that can be used for future business developments without having to rely on others.

Cons of Doing it Yourself

It takes time! There may be an opportunity cost involved if you are spending significant amounts of time working on your website rather than your core business.
It may take longer to launch your new website due to inexperience. The learning curve involved may be steep depending on your level of experience.

And don't worry, if you are not that savvy in the area of web development- there is very little HTML involved. If you can work basic computer programs such as word processing and do light image editing, then you should be able to do this! Anything of a technical difficulty, I hope to step you through.
