T

o log in to your Joomla web site, type your domain name into the address bar of your browser followed by the word "administrator". For example, if I want to login to my website, I would type in the following into the address bar:
www.webbyshore.com/administrator

This launches the Joomla Administration Login as shown here:

Joomla Login Screen

Type in the username and password that you setup with your account. This will take you to the Joomla control panel. Here is what it should look like:

There are a couple of settings to make right away. First, click on the "Site" drop-down menu and select "Global Configuration". In the "SEO Settings" section, hover over the yellow triangle and note the warning that states: "Apache users only! Rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess before activating". It is important to rename this file so that you can take advantage of search engine friendly URL's. This is a part of SEO (search engine optimization) that can help with getting your website placed well within the search engine listings.
