ow it is time to load up a content management system so that you can start developing your website! The system that I almost always use is called Joomla. Joomla is an open source program that is licensed free to the public. You will not need a separate website development program such as Front Page. Joomla is the program that you will use to build your website. Click here for more information related to Joomla. Be sure to come back to these directions to install it though. The installation takes place through your BlueHost control panel.

Installation Through Fantastico De Luxe

Joomla Installation Through Fantastico De LuxeWhile logged into your BlueHost control panel, click on the Fantastico De Luxe icon. On the left hand side of the page, click on the Joomla 1.5 link under the Content Management system category. This will bring up the installation page. Click on the "New Installation" link.

You will have a choice of where you want your content management system to reside. Normally you will want to install Joomla on your main domain. For instance, I installed Joomla 1.5 on my domain, WebByShore.com. Thus, you will leave the "Install in directory" field blank.

Admin Access Data

Under admin access data, you will fill in your username and password. And of course you will want to remember these so that you can log into your website later.

Base Configuration

You will want to provide the email address that you plan to use for your website. If you have already created a new email address based on your new domain, then use it here. Otherwise, add the email address that you want to associate with your website. This can be changed later.

Admin full name: just add your name.

Site name: add the title of your new website. Note that you can change this later.

You can also install sample data which is helpful to set up your website. You can replace this data later with your official website information as you develop it.

Now check over everything to make sure it is correct, then click on the "Install Joomla 1.5" button. Be patient while Joomla is loaded onto your server. When it is through, you will be prompted to finish the installation. Then you can provide an email address for the setup information to be sent to you.

After installation is complete, open a new browser window and type in your domain name in the address bar. You should get a generic looking site with the name you chose at the top of the page. If you selected it, your site will be full of sample data. All of this will be converted into an awesome website later!
